Evan Lysacek of the United States won the men’s figure skating gold medal at the Vancouver Olympics, upsetting defending champion Evgeni Plushenko of Russia. (Feb. 18)

Olympic organizers say they’ve corrected problems that allowed a mentally ill man to get within steps of Vice President Joe Biden during the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. (Feb. 18)
